Re: Sunny Beach, Bulgaria
Very odd country with two man made resorts. We went there about a decade ago when my ex was pregnant with my first child. I remember (a) every night a woman singing 'I cant get your outta my head' in terrible German/English, and (b) going on a daytrip to Romania in absolute agony with some sort of bowel issue owing to the lack of fibre.

Bill

Its changed quite a bit. They have (maybe EU) spent a lot of money developing and cleaning it up.

Even Sunny Beach is not that bad now.

Outside of the resorts, Bulgaria is lovely.

What surprised me most is what a shithole Varna has become, that used to be a top resort up to the 70s.

I used to live in Burgas. Sunny Beach is a fucking shit hole but it's cheap and sort of cheerful. Would not take my kids to Bulgaria even if it meant we'd win the league and Tottenham would go down. Good luck

Re: Sunny Beach, Bulgaria
Was near there two years ago.

We have some good Bulgarian friends who own properties round that area who warned us off Sunny Beach. They advised Sveti Vlas about 4km north of Sunny Beach, its lovely, great place, would definitely return.

Did a day trip to the water park at sunny beach with the kids and it was actually ok, perhaps you should have stayed at the hotel next to the water park.

Must say, food is so cheap and excellent in Bulgaria, no need to go all-inclusive.

Re: Sunny Beach, Bulgaria
You can get a 5 star hotel for one week all inclusive in Sunny Beach for about £600 in August.

I think that tells you a lot about the kind of people that go there.

I’m off to Tuscany.

FOMB - somewhere Gavlar hasn't been to!!!

Too cheap for a millionaire perhaps?

If you're brave enough, get a hire car and use Sunny Beach as a base.

The place itself is full of people just over the threshold of adulthood exploring how pissed they can get and how frequently.

Plenty of other places which are more attractive, both in terms of architecture and scenery are in reach.

It's not the worst place I've driven (Paris and Southern Italy are worse).

I went to Albena in 76 if that helps. Sold some Levi's for a tidy sum

Urgh! Bulgarians...

Clearly you don't live in London among those filthy savages or you would never have visited their mothership.

Went there about 10-12 years ago when much of it it was still basically a building site. It was a shit hole then, and I'm led to believe not that much has changed since!

Probably best staying in Sunny Beach for the football, though.

Find your way to Nessebar. Much nicer and a bus ride away.
